Political Design

Seems like america is in the grip of election fever as well. The web is giving a voice to a lot of different groups who are protesting. I am especially interested in the different graphic design groups who are using design to make themselves heard. Below is a selection :-
Partisan Project
AIGA get out the vote
Counter Productive Industries
33 Graphic
Toy Shop Collective
Bikes Against Bush
RNC Not Welcome

Australian Election 2004 - all hell breaks loose

Well the election has finally been called after a really long drawn out quasi campaign by the government. It's going to be held on Saturday, 9 October 2004. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of the most bitter campaigns in a long time as there is a lot of feeling about with regards to the whole iraq issue among other things.

It will also be interesting to see how the parties use the web as part of their campaigning. Crikey.com.au has put up a review of all the major parties websites. Not to be outdone here's the links for all the 5 major(?) parties :-

If you haven't enrolled to vote then you need to get off your backside and do it before 8pm , Tuesday 7 September 2004.

spotting new trends with PSFK

Found this new site via Small Business Trends. They are a bunch of people in different cities who point out new trends. It's called PSFK and while it is an idea that others have done before their execution is spot on. Definitely a worthwhile read.

Pacman takes Manhattan

Students in New York have set up a real life game of pacman using the streets of the city that never sleeps as their game table. And all of this is part of their studies in NYU's Interactive Telecommunications graduate program. My congratulations to the academics who came up with this - I'm all for education being as fun as possible.
