Straight out of Brisbane is a festival of independent and emerging arts, culture and ideas and runs from December 2nd to 12th. There are some interesting categories here including :- New Media, Game Design, Writing, Urban Theory and the 2004 Creative Industries Micro-Business Forum. Hopefully I will get some time to check some of this stuff out. I came across this site via the Trash Video Newsletter.

Artcyclopedia is an excellent database of museum quality artists. Search on any famous artist you can think of and they come up with links to paintings in museums and public art galleries as well as articles.

Icosa pod shelters

The Icosa pod shelters are semi-permanent shelters for consumer and humanitarian uses. They are designed to be cheap, easy to construct and attractive solutions to the problem of where to house people in emergency situations. These shelters actually look like they would be fantastic spaces to dwell in for short periods. I can see a lot of applications for them not only for humanitarian crises but also camping. Thinking With Type

The thinkingwithtype.com website is an on-line companion to the book Thinking with Type: A Critical Guide for Designers, Writers, Editors, & Students, by Ellen Lupton. This well-designed site is an excellent introduction to typography. It even contains tools for teachers wanting to use the book as a text book for their classes.

Storm Chasing in South East Queensland
