An Australian company,
PTW, has just won a competition to design the swimming pool complex for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Wow!
This design is awesome. It has to be seen to be believed. They are calling it "the watercube" which is a good way to describe the rectangular mass of transparent crystal-like shapes. You really have to respect the guts of the Chinese to select such an "out there" design. Too many times the safe route is chosen but I have a feeling this building will stick in many peoples minds and become a landmark even beyond the Olymics.
I found the link while browsing
Core77 an excellent design magazine. I will definitely be visiting this one on a regular basis.
